Content Removal Policy

Oxdia is an online academic community that enables students to share study materials amongst each other and improve their academic learning (see About Us and FAQ). The sharing process is automated and the shared contents are not audited manually. This policy serves as a guideline on removing shared materials and it is linked to on every page.

Oxdia does not permit uploading of materials not authorized by their creators or the course instructors (see Section 5C of the Terms of Use). You may use one of the following Sections to remove such materials.

Section (A) Express Removal

This applies to all shared contents that are either copyrighted by you or are part of the curriculum of course(s) taught by you. Contents that are created entirely by students (eg. lecture notes) can also be removed when they are considered inappropriate for students' learning.

After you notice that such contents are uploaded on Oxdia and that you do not wish them to be shared any longer, please provide us the following information to authorize the removal procedures:

(i) Proof of identity (eg. your unique institution email or photo ID)

(ii) List of the contents in your course curriculums that shall not be shared

Additionally, you may also authorize us to remove any such contents if found.

You must be either the creator of the contents or an instructor of the course(s) to use the Express Removal procedure. If you are an entity acting on behalf of the content creator/instructor, please refer to Section (B) to submit a formal copyright notice.

Should the information provided by you be deemed obscure, we may request you to submit a formal copyright notice pursuant to Section (B). You acknowledge that providing false information may expose you to legal liabilities.

Send request to: copyright@oxdia.com

Under proper request, removal shall be completed within 24 hours.

Section (B) Copyright Notice

Alternative to Section (A), you may allege copyright violation and provide a formal copyright infringement notice to remove materials shared on Oxdia.

Oxdia complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and will resolve any claims of copyright violation using the standard procedure pursuant to 17 U.S.C 512(c)(3). To file a DMCA takedown notice, please provide our Copyright Agent a statement that substantially includes the following:

(i) A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed;

(ii) Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site;

(iii) Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled and information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to locate the material;

(iv) Information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact you, such as an address, telephone number, and, if available, an electronic mail;

(v) A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and

(vi) A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Once sufficient information is obtained, we'll confirm and remove the infringing material(s). The user(s) who uploaded the material(s) will be subsequently notified. Failing to meet all of the above requirements may render your DMCA notice invalid.

The DMCA provides that you may be liable for damages (including costs and attorney fees) if you knowingly misrepresent that material or activity is infringing. Your DMCA notice may be submitted to chillingeffects.org for analysis.

We review every copyright notice and will comply with proper request within 24 hours.
